Prior to becoming a judge, a lifelong Wisconsinite, Will was in private practice and then started serving the public as Assistant Corporation Counsel in Dodge County. When Watertown hired Will, it was not only to fill the new role of City Attorney, but also to flesh it out and establish new processes for how one lawyer, versus a contracted firm, would handle the high volume and wide range of cases.
Judge Gruber and his wife Annie, a Watertown native, reside in the Town of Lake Mills. Gruber is an active member of Rotary and was a deeply involved volunteer in the response to and prevention of domestic and sexual abuse in both Waukesha and Jefferson Counties. He is also a member of the Friends of Korth Park and volunteers his time with the Jefferson County Humane Society.
